For this exercise, I would ask that you imagine you have already graduated from St. Bonaventure University and have been invited back to your high school to address the senior class who are about to graduate and to give a talk which is to prepare them for life away from home. The theme of your talk is two-fold. The first part is to share with them 3 key social factors they will likely face that you would caution them to be aware of as such things can lead to a lower level of well-being from a holistic, spirit, mind, body perspective. To state that another way, now that you are a college graduate and have completed your degree program in general, and Health and Illness course in particular, what specific elements of our culture do you feel have toxic effects on health. The second part is to share with the students 3 key factors that you would argue are both protections against such toxic factors, but also serve to people live lives of happiness, enthusiasm, and purpose. specific pieces of wisdom would you now share with these teenagers who now look up to you as a college graduate? As your craft, incorporate key concepts we learned in class for each of the 3 negative social factors and 3 positive factors. I am not looking for any particular length but I would think two to four typed pages should be sufficient.
